The National Civil War Naval Museums views Black History Month as an opportunity to not only celebrate the artistic achievements of black culture but to raise awareness of diversity, and provide a means for conversation. The goal is to boost these powerful narratives through museum theater. Patrons will experience firsthand the power of live theater as they are actively engaged in the remarkable accounts of Horace King, John Lawson, Harriet Dallas, Robert Smalls, and Mary Louvestre as told through performances by professional actors. An informative Q&A segment follows each presentation, offering attendees the cool opportunity to ask questions of “historical figures”.
